[WHAT IS THIS PRESS REVIEW ABOUT?]

1. Solar Boat Challenge Event

2. National Geographic Ocean Plastic Innovation Challenge

1. WE MET WORLD CHAMPIONS

Last week, our sponsor Dietsmann welcomed the TU Delt University Team to Monaco, a couple of days before they won the Offshore Solar Boat Challenge organized by the Yacht Club of Monaco.

During this event, we had the pleasure to hear from the students participating in the race how they have built their boat, what are the race’s characteristics and what was their plan to win: and it worked!!

Their trimaran, a boat with 3 hulls and powered by solar energy sail 30km to Ventimiglia (Italy) and then to Cannes and back to Monaco, covering 123 km overall.

The team made of 20 students from this engineering school worked for one full year on the project.

Congratulations to them!

2- OUR MEMBERS TALKED TO US ABOUT INITIATIVES…

The National Geographic has its Ocean Plastic Innovation Challenge

To learn more, click here.

In order to fight Ocean Plastic Pollution, the National Geographic has launched in partnership with Sky Ocean Ventures this one-year competition.

There are 3 different tracks:

1- Design: competing teams have to come up with solutions to improve food and beverage packaging and container, which are a big source of plastic waste.

2. Circular Economy: participants have to develop scalable business models and technology solutions to reduce plastic packaging waste and encourage the reuse and repurposing of plastic alternatives instead of discarding them after one use.

3. Data Visualization: represent a relevant, credible data set related to the global challenge of plastic waste as a data visualization.
